My Teaching Philsophy
My pedagogical approach is shaped around three foundational beliefs. That knowledge must:
have a purpose beyond academia.
be inclusive and accessible.
uphold academic rigour.
I incorporate these beliefs throughout my course design by adopting problem-based approach, that leverages emerging digital technologies, to create that are practical, engaging, and socially impactful.
I am experienced educator and have taught university courses and created learning opportunities for students and Indigenous community members across Canada. I have specifically demonstrated the effectiveness of this pedagogical approach through the development of several micro-credentialing courses that welcomed Indigenous community members into the university environment. These programs, focused on practical skill development and career readiness, combined digital tools, community knowledge, and inclusive learning strategies as the students learn about archaeology/cultural heritage and its potential roles to address community-identified needs.
Indigenous Archaeology Field Course (Sept 2024)
I am always looking for teaching opportunities and want to co-create programs that work for descendant communities. Please do not hesitate to reach out if this is something you are interested in! If I am not currently offering learning opportunities, I can help advise where you might get training.
